John Thornton has been a valued member of the Charles Stewart team for more than 40 years, building a respected career in the livestock industry through his dedication to clients, livestock producers, and rural communities. Born and raised in Lismore, Victoria, John became a stock agent not long after finishing school and has never looked back.

Throughout his career, John has enjoyed the variety that comes with livestock agency work, appreciating that no two days are ever the same. Whether working with sheep or cattle, he values the diversity of the role and the opportunity to spend his days out on farms and in the yards rather than being confined to an office.

One of the greatest highlights of John's career has been the opportunity to help people. Over four decades in the industry, he has built lasting relationships with clients and taken pride in supporting farming families through all stages of their business and personal journeys.

John enjoys working with producers to achieve the best outcomes for their livestock enterprises. His extensive industry knowledge, practical experience, and approachable nature have earned him the trust and respect of generations of clients.

Outside of work, John enjoys catching up with friends at functions and barbecues and is a passionate supporter of the Geelong Cats.
