Ziibo - shorthand for art, design and lifestyle

Colac’s newest retail outlet Ziibo is a stylish new gallery and home interiors store, and the creation of local artist Angela Baldwin.  

Angela, a qualified interior designer, was keen to have a job using her creativity, and driven by her admiration for local artists opened the interiors, art and lifestyle store in Murray Street.  

Keen to create her own work opportunity in the town she calls home prompted the move to open Ziibo. The shop’s name is derived from the word gazebo which has personal significance for the new retailer and her family.

Ziibo leased through Charles Stewart property management is a light-filled, welcoming space complete with works from local artists, along with Australian designed and manufactured products, bespoke furniture and stylishly minimalist and functional Scandinavian designs.

Good quality, ethically manufactured, sustainable products are a foundation of Ziibo’s philosophy.

The current artists’ works on consignment hail from Colac, Apollo Bay, Camperdown, Warrnambool and Melbourne, and as well as celebrating local artists in their backyard reduces the works’ transport and environmental impact. 

She said Ziibo offered a unique retail experience in Colac providing original, one-off products, textiles and ceramics with a strong connection to nature and good Australian design. Having been raised to appreciate quality, it’s important to her that the products stocked were carefully selected and well-researched.

“It would be very rare to bump into somebody who has exactly the same products, because I collaborate with the makers to select the fabrics and designs.”

In her spare time, Angela is undertaking a Diploma of Visual Arts which has allowed her to broaden her network with other local artists.

You can visit Ziibo Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday 9am-1pm.
