Top Bull Fetches $42,000

16th February, 2023

A record price was recorded for Ennerdale Herefords at their 53rd annual bull sale held on property at Dundonnell on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Lot 1, Ennerdale Currency (AI) (PP) sold to a top of $42,000 to Kyneton-based Glendan Park Hereford Stud.

A total of 28 bulls sold for the day at an average of $8,111 with six bulls being purchased via AuctionsPlus and a total of 34 registered buyers.

“The bulls presented very well, it really is a credit to the Luckock’s,” said livestock sales manager Peter McConachy.

Demand from local buyers saw majority of the bulls remain throughout Western Victoria at Casterton, Mortlake, Hamilton, Warrnambool, Camperdown, Colac and Ballarat. Two bulls will head to Mudgee, New South Wales, one to Launceston, Tasmania and four will head to Gippsland, Victoria.

“Considering what has been happening over the last few months, a decrease in the 2022 average price is very much in line with what could have been expected, with the exception to the top-selling bull,” Peter said.

The sale was conducted by Charles Stewart and Company in conjunction with Nutrien Livestock.
